Off to Ireland! July 13-14, Dublin

After a crazy day of packing and tidying up a few things at home, we made our way to Dulles airport. Our flight left a bit late, but we settled in with our iPads and had a nice flight.  We didn't sleep much and we were pretty exhausted by the time we landed in Dublin. It was about 6:30 am when we arrived at our hotel. We took a few hour nap and headed out to explore the city a bit. We landed at Trinity College which was founded in 1592. It's old!  I couldn't imagine going to a college that was that big of a tourist attraction!  After we meandered around the city a bit, we went to Guinness Storehouse for a tour. We learned about the history of how Arthur Guinness started the brewery and signed a 9000 year lease.  We went to the top of the storehouse at the Gravity Bar and had a pint.

The Gravity Bar has 360 degree views of Dublin City.  We also had the "Connoisseur experience"... went into a private bar to learn about the beers, and taste a few beers, including a remake of the original porter that started it all.  We also learned how to properly drink and pour a Guinness.... it takes 119 seconds to pour the proper Guinness.

After The Guinness tour, we made our way to the Temple Bar area and found The Old Storehouse pub, had a great dinner... with some music entertainment.

It was a long day... but a great first day in Dublin!
